Abstract: Youth have emerged as one of the most dynamic and influential actors in contemporary political movements across the world. Demographic transitions, expansion of education, digital communication, and growing political awareness have collectively positioned young people at the forefront of struggles for democracy, social justice, environmental protection, and inclusive governance. In recent decades, youth-led and youth-driven movements have challenged entrenched power structures, questioned traditional political leadership, and introduced innovative forms of participation that go beyond electoral politics. From mass street mobilizations and student protests to online campaigns and issue-based activism, young people have reshaped the language, strategies, and objectives of political engagement. Their role is particularly significant in societies experiencing rapid social change, economic uncertainty, and democratic stress, where youth often articulate both frustration and hope for alternative futures. This paper examines the evolving role of youth in contemporary political movements, focusing on their motivations, modes of participation, and impact on political processes and institutions. It also explores the opportunities created by youth engagement as well as the challenges that limit their effectiveness, including repression, co-optation, and internal fragmentation. By analyzing these dimensions, the study seeks to highlight the transformative potential of youth participation in shaping democratic renewal and political change in the contemporary world.
