Vitamin A supplementation programmes have been implemented in various parts of Africa to reduce childhood mortality and morbidity from vitamin A deficiency. A mixed-methods approach combining data analysis of programme records with qualitative interviews with healthcare workers and parents. While the programmes showed promise, there were challenges related to adherence and sustainability that need further investigation. Enhanced community engagement is recommended alongside strengthening supply chain management for sustained impact.
