Municipal infrastructure in Nigeria is critical for economic development but faces significant risks due to inadequate maintenance and regulatory oversight. A randomized field trial was conducted among 150 municipal units across six states. A logistic regression model with robust standard errors was used to assess the impact of interventions aimed at reducing risks. The trial found a statistically significant reduction in infrastructure failure rates by 20% (p < 0. 05) after implementing risk management strategies, highlighting the need for standardised asset evaluation protocols. Randomized field trials offer a robust method to evaluate municipal infrastructure risk reduction programmes and suggest that systematic monitoring can improve asset longevity and service delivery. Implementing standardised asset evaluations and regular maintenance schedules based on trial results will enhance the reliability of Nigeria's municipal infrastructure systems.
