Transport maintenance depots (TMDs) are crucial for ensuring the reliability of vehicle fleets in South Africa's manufacturing sector. A randomized field trial was conducted with a sample size of 100 depots, assessing both quantitative and qualitative data to measure system adoption. The deployment rate varied significantly between regions, with an average adoption rate of 65% among the sampled TMDs, indicating high variability in regional effectiveness. While some TMD systems showed promising results, others faced significant challenges related to maintenance protocols and workforce training. Investment should be directed towards regions showing lower adoption rates, with a focus on improving infrastructure and personnel development programmes. The maintenance outcome was modelled as Y₈ₓ=₀+₁X₈ₓ+uᵢ+₈ₓ, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
