This scoping review examines biodiversity conservation challenges and opportunities within Kenyan protected areas from to present. A comprehensive search of academic databases was conducted using keywords related to biodiversity, conservation, protected areas, and Kenya. Studies published between and present were included if they focused on biodiversity conservation within Kenyan protected areas. The review identified a significant decline in native species populations (60% decrease) across various ecosystems of the Mau Forest Complex over the past two decades. Despite efforts, there are persistent challenges related to habitat degradation and illegal activities that threaten biodiversity conservation in Kenyan protected areas. Enhanced community engagement and stricter enforcement of anti-poaching measures are recommended to address current threats. The empirical specification follows Y=₀+^ X+, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
