This study explores how social media has influenced communication patterns in urban Ghana from to . Qualitative analysis was employed through a content analysis of social media posts from selected urban communities in Ghana. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 participants to gather insights into communication preferences and practices. The study identified that WhatsApp has become the primary tool for news dissemination among young adults, with usage reaching up to 75% in surveyed groups, significantly altering traditional media consumption habits. Social media platforms have reshaped how urban Ghanaians communicate and access information, particularly through instant messaging applications like WhatsApp. This digital divide is affecting the way communities interact and share news. Communities should be educated on the benefits of using multiple communication channels to avoid over-reliance on any single platform, especially for critical information dissemination.
