In Tanzania, libraries and archives play a crucial role in preserving African intellectual heritage, encompassing historical documents, manuscripts, and cultural artifacts. A comprehensive review of existing literature, government policies, and interviews with key stakeholders were employed to analyse current practices and identify areas for improvement. Findings indicate that while there is a significant investment in physical infrastructure, the digitization efforts are lagging behind, leading to an uneven distribution of accessible digital resources across regions. The analysis concludes that improving digital accessibility and fostering collaborative partnerships between government bodies and academic institutions can significantly enhance the preservation and dissemination of African intellectual heritage. Recommendations include increasing funding for digitization projects, establishing national standards for archival practices, and promoting public-private sector collaborations to expand access to these resources.
