Abstract

Urbanization in Uganda has led to rapid growth of informal settlements, posing challenges for social welfare systems. A mixed methods study combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive insights into social welfare practices in Ugandan cities. Findings indicate that approximately 40% of residents in informal settlements lack access to essential healthcare services, necessitating targeted interventions. The study highlights the critical need for policy reforms and increased funding to improve social welfare coverage in urban areas.
