As classrooms become increasingly diverse, schools require intervention models that address not only academic performance but also cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental differences. Educational Therapy (EdTx) has emerged as a transdisciplinary approach that integrates individualized instruction, psychoeducational assessment, and therapeutic relationships to strengthen executive functioning, metacognition, and learner independence. Special Needs Educational Therapy (SNEdTx) extends this framework to students identified under statutory disability systems, particularly IDEA (2004), aligning therapeutic practice with individualized education programs, interdisciplinary collaboration, and disability-specific adaptations. This paper examines the conceptual foundations, historical development, similarities, and distinctions between EdTx and SNEdTx. It argues that EdTx provides the pedagogical-therapeutic core, while SNEdTx operationalizes that core within legally mandated disability frameworks. The integration of both models offers a coherent, evidence-informed pathway for supporting diverse learners in inclusive educational environments.
