Psychological research in Africa, particularly Egypt, is increasingly recognised for its relevance to understanding diverse populations within a global context. The analysis will draw on qualitative interviews with policymakers, psychologists, and researchers in Egypt, supplemented by an examination of existing policy documents. Findings indicate a significant emphasis on mental health policies within the Egyptian government's agenda, particularly focusing on youth and women's issues. Policy dynamics significantly shape psychological research agendas in Egypt, with notable attention to gender-specific mental health needs. Future policy initiatives should consider integrating diverse perspectives into mental health strategies to enhance inclusivity. Egypt, psychology, policy, mental health, youth, women
