Private higher education institutions in Hainan Province serve as a crucial supplement to the higher education system, and their development quality is closely intertwined with the caliber of their teaching faculty, particularly the professional growth of young teachers. As the backbone of teaching, research, and service in private colleges, the professional advancement of young teachers directly influences the institutions’ core competitiveness and sustainable development. However, these teachers currently face multiple challenges in their professional development, including individual-level obstacles and constraints imposed by the external environment and regional conditions. This paper aims to systematically examine the underlying causes and specific manifestations of these challenges. Based on this analysis, it seeks to construct an integrated pathway tailored to Hainan’s realities, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of private education while promoting the comprehensive and sustainable development of young teachers. This will be approached from multiple dimensions, including reshaping development concepts, stimulating teachers’ initiative, and mobilizing external resources. The goal is to provide theoretical insights and practical guidance for strengthening the teaching workforce in private colleges and enhancing the quality of regional higher education.
