Background: Marriage is a socially acceptable way to satisfy the basic human need for sexual gratification. It thus forms the basis for procreation and building up of family. According to Thomas (1977) Marital adjustment is “the state in which there is an overall feeling in husband and wife of happiness, satisfaction with their marriage and with each other”. Methodology: Study the Marital Adjustment among Married Working and Non-Working Women. The sample consisted of 70 married working and non-working women (35 each) and data was collected in random sampling methods. Socio Demographic and clinical data sheet, Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ,1976) and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ, 1988) were used. Result: There was a statistically significant difference between education, nature of job and earning member of the family at 0.05 level and comparison of Marital Adjustment of Married Working and Non-Working Women there is no statistically significant difference was found. Conclusion: The study concludes that socio-demographic and clinical factors statistically significantly influence the differences between working and non-working women in terms of education and job nature. While marital adjustment does not show significant differences between the two groups.
