Senegal's historical governance challenges have shaped contemporary policy landscapes, influencing current political strategies. A qualitative approach was employed to review Senegalese history, including colonial records and post-independence policies, focusing on key events and policy documents. Historical data reveals a consistent pattern of dependency relationships between Senegal and external powers, which persists in current governance structures. The historical interdependencies have led to persistent challenges such as corruption and underinvestment in public services, necessitating targeted policy interventions. Implementing structural reforms that address historical dependencies could mitigate these issues, fostering a more resilient and accountable governance framework.
