Sustainable development in Guinea-Bissau faces significant challenges due to economic instability, high poverty rates, and environmental degradation. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys was employed to assess stakeholder perceptions and actual practices related to sustainable development initiatives. There is a notable preference among businesses for community-based projects that offer direct economic benefits, with over 60% of respondents indicating such interventions as the most effective strategy. The analysis highlights the importance of integrating community engagement into business strategies to achieve long-term sustainability goals in Guinea-Bissau. Policy recommendations include incentivizing businesses to engage more deeply with local communities and promoting collaboration between government, NGOs, and private sector entities.
