Criminal behaviour in Nigeria has been a subject of interest for forensic psychologists seeking to understand its underlying psychological factors. No empirical data was collected; instead, a review of existing literature and theoretical frameworks were employed to analyse the psychological factors associated with criminal behaviour. Themes emerged regarding impulsivity and trauma as significant factors contributing to criminal acts among Nigerian populations. Forensic psychologists in Nigeria need further training in understanding the complex interplay between psychological factors and criminal behaviors. Policy recommendations include enhanced mental health services for at-risk individuals. Develop targeted interventions based on identified psychological influences, integrate forensic psychology into existing rehabilitation programmes, and promote public awareness about mental health issues related to crime prevention.
