Feasibility Study on Mobile Money Platforms for Healthcare Financing in Nairobi Slums, Kenya

The use of mobile money platforms for healthcare financing is gaining traction in urban areas globally. However, their adoption and impact on health services delivery remain underexplored in Nairobi's slums. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews will be employed to gather data from a representative sample (n=200) of adults residing in Nairobi slums. Data analysis will employ descriptive statistics for numerical variables and thematic analysis for textual data. Users expressed significant interest in using mobile money for healthcare payments, indicating an overall positive reception with a willingness score above 75% on a Likert scale. The preliminary findings suggest that integrating mobile payment systems into health services could enhance accessibility and affordability of healthcare in Nairobi slums. Further research should focus on developing user-friendly interfaces, ensuring financial security, and establishing sustainable funding mechanisms for the implementation of such platforms.
