Pan-Africanism has been a significant force in African politics since the mid-20th century, advocating for unity and solidarity among African nations. Gambia, as an independent nation, faces unique challenges and opportunities within this context. The research employs qualitative methods including participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis to understand the lived experiences of individuals and institutions within Gambia's political landscape. Findings indicate that while Pan-Africanism has facilitated cross-border cooperation in education and health initiatives, it also faces skepticism from younger generations who prioritise local development over pan-African goals. This study highlights the complex interplay between traditional Pan-Africanist ideals and contemporary realities in Gambia, suggesting avenues for inclusive governance that respect both historical legacies and future aspirations. Policy recommendations include fostering dialogue between different generational perspectives on Pan-Africanism to ensure its relevance and effectiveness as a guiding principle in Gambian society.
