Public history in post-conflict societies often grapples with the complexities of reconstructing collective memory and understanding historical events through oral testimonies and cultural narratives. The approach will draw on existing literature, archival research, and the analysis of oral testimonies collected from various communities affected by historical conflicts in Kenya. Public historians must engage actively with oral testimonies to ensure they are not merely passive carriers but active agents in memory-making processes that foster understanding and healing among affected communities. Recommendations include fostering collaborative research partnerships, integrating community voices into academic discourse, and utilising digital platforms for broader dissemination of oral history findings.
