Nigeria has experienced several political transitions characterized by varying levels of gender representation in leadership roles. Qualitative research methods were employed to examine primary sources such as official documents, interviews with stakeholders, and secondary data from reputable sources. A notable finding is that women's participation in high-level politics remains significantly below their proportion of the general population (approximately 10% compared to a 45% female populace). The study underscores the need for institutional reforms and public policies aimed at increasing gender inclusivity in Nigerian political systems. Specific recommendations include enhancing women's leadership training programmes, implementing quotas for political appointments, and promoting gender-sensitive electoral processes.
