The Nile Basin, spanning ten countries including Kenya, faces significant water scarcity, posing threats to regional stability and development. A comprehensive review of existing literature and stakeholder consultations were conducted to understand the current state of water management policies and their effectiveness in conflict resolution. Current water allocation practices favour large-scale agricultural interests over smaller communities, leading to uneven distribution and potential social unrest. The analysis highlights the need for a more equitable and participatory approach to water resource governance that considers all stakeholders' needs and rights. Recommendations include integrating community-based decision-making processes into water allocation policies and enhancing transparency in resource management decisions.
