Solar-powered irrigation systems have been introduced to rural communities in Senegal as a sustainable solution for enhancing agricultural productivity and economic stability. A mixed methods approach was adopted, integrating surveys with semi-structured interviews. Data collection involved farmers in three regions of Senegal, covering a total area of 150 square kilometers. Findings indicate an average increase of 27% in crop yields among participating farmers using solar-powered irrigation systems compared to those without such technology. The mixed methods study demonstrates the efficacy of solar-powered irrigation systems in boosting agricultural productivity and economic benefits for rural Senegalese communities. Policy makers are recommended to invest in further development and distribution of solar-powered irrigation technologies as a means to support sustainable agriculture and economic growth in rural areas.
