Microfinance initiatives have been implemented in various contexts to address financial inclusion and economic empowerment among marginalized groups. In coastal Mozambique, female fishers often face unique challenges related to their livelihoods and social status, necessitating targeted interventions. The study employed participatory methods, including focus group discussions and individual interviews with selected female fishers. Data collection was conducted through a structured questionnaire aimed at understanding the microfinance programme's effectiveness. Findings indicate that over 70% of participants reported an increase in their income stability following microfinance participation, while nearly half accessed credit facilities for business expansion or household expenses. The microfinance intervention has significantly enhanced financial inclusion and economic empowerment among female fishers in coastal Mozambique. However, challenges persist related to market access and social norms surrounding women's roles. To further support these women economically, it is recommended that future initiatives should focus on improving market linkages and addressing gender-specific barriers to business growth.
