The Sahel region of Southern Africa faces significant challenges due to climate variability, affecting human security through multiple dimensions. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with local community leaders and traditional healers to understand the perceptions and experiences related to climate change effects. Interview data reveals that over 70% of respondents experienced a decline in crop yields due to erratic rainfall patterns, leading to food shortages and malnutrition among vulnerable groups. The study underscores the critical need for targeted interventions by local authorities and international aid organizations to mitigate climate-induced vulnerabilities. Immediate action is required to enhance early warning systems, support resilient livelihoods through diversified agricultural practices, and improve access to healthcare facilities in affected areas.
