The study aims to improve the reliability analysis of telecom networks in Nigeria by utilising Monte Carlo simulation techniques with variance reduction strategies. A comparative study involving the application of various variance reduction techniques such as importance sampling and control variates in conjunction with traditional Monte Carlo simulations. The study uses a simplified model of telecom networks for analysis. An empirical example revealed that the combination of importance sampling and antithetic variate methods significantly reduced the estimation variance by approximately 40% compared to standard Monte Carlo without variance reduction techniques. The findings suggest that incorporating variance reduction strategies into Monte Carlo simulations can substantially improve the efficiency and accuracy of reliability analysis for telecom networks in Nigeria, offering potential improvements in network design and optimization. Telecom operators should consider implementing these variance reduction methods to enhance their reliability models, particularly when dealing with complex or large-scale network scenarios.
