Industrial machinery fleets in Tanzania are subject to significant operational risks due to inadequate maintenance practices. A randomized controlled trial was conducted among four industrial units in Tanzania. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and machine performance logs over six months. The analysis revealed that the implementation of preventive maintenance schedules reduced machinery breakdowns by 30% (95% CI: -25, -34). The randomized field trial demonstrated effective methods for reducing operational risks in industrial machinery fleets, significantly enhancing fleet reliability. Industrial units should adopt regular preventive maintenance schedules to mitigate machinery breakdowns and improve overall efficiency. The maintenance outcome was modelled as Y₈ₓ=₀+₁X₈ₓ+uᵢ+₈ₓ, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
