Abstract The article presents the results of a survey made in February, 1967, of the journals currently received by the business libraries at 26 of the best known and most productive business schools in the United States. A simple questionnaire was sent to the librarian of each school's business library, and 24 usable responses were returned. If a school ever expects its master's or doctor's students to research professional standards in this country, copies of many of these state society journals must be made available. Moreover, leading accounting practitioners and educators are regularly invited by state societies to talk before annual conventions, chapter meetings, or special seminars, and their papers may be published only in the state society journal. With the recent interest in international accounting, libraries have begun to subscribe to non-U.S. journals. While one might conclude from this survey that libraries are doing quite well, it should be remembered that these libraries are located at 24 of the most prominent and productive schools.
