Adapting Universal Basic Income (UBI) models to address youth unemployment in Dakar, Senegal is a critical area of study within African Studies. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews, to assess the feasibility of UBI as a policy intervention for youth unemployment in Dakar. The preliminary findings suggest that a modest monthly stipend could reduce youth unemployment by up to 20% if structured correctly and integrated into existing social safety nets. A tailored UBI scheme appears promising but requires further empirical testing and policy refinement before implementation. Policy makers should prioritise research on the specific conditions that would optimise UBI's effectiveness in Dakar's youth employment landscape.
