Maternal Care Facilities Systems Evaluation in Kenya: Quasi-Experimental Insights into Clinical Outcomes

Maternal care facilities in Kenya are essential for ensuring healthy pregnancies and childbirth outcomes. However, there is a need to evaluate their effectiveness through longitudinal studies that can provide insights into clinical practices. This longitudinal study employs a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from health records and qualitative insights through interviews with patients and healthcare providers. Data collection spans two years, focusing on key indicators such as maternal health status, delivery outcomes, and postnatal care. During the first year of the study, it was observed that patients in facilities implementing a comprehensive prenatal care programme had a 20% lower incidence of preterm births compared to those not participating. However, patient satisfaction levels were higher among those who received personalized follow-up support from healthcare providers. The findings suggest that well-designed and supported maternal care systems can significantly improve clinical outcomes in Kenya, particularly when they include comprehensive prenatal care and individualized postnatal support. Healthcare authorities should prioritise the development of comprehensive prenatal care programmes and ensure that follow-up services are adequately resourced to maintain patient satisfaction and positive health outcomes.
