Transitional justice mechanisms (TJMs) are integral to post-conflict societies seeking to address historical injustices and promote peacebuilding. Sierra Leone's experience with TJMs provides a valuable case study for understanding their impact on societal reconciliation. The study employs a mixed-methods approach involving both quantitative surveys among the general population and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders. Data collection was conducted through online questionnaires and semi-structured interviews targeting diverse segments of society. Survey results indicate that approximately 65% of respondents believe TJMs have contributed positively to societal healing, particularly in addressing historical grievances related to the civil war. The findings underscore the importance of TJMs in enhancing social cohesion and peacebuilding efforts in Sierra Leone. However, challenges persist regarding equitable access and effectiveness across different segments of society. Policy recommendations include strengthening TJM implementation strategies to ensure inclusivity and addressing persistent grievances effectively.
