This paper proposes that impact-driven mass extinctions operate through a dual mechanism: (1) Fractured Antipodal Bullet (FAB) theory providing focused antipodal volcanism, and (2) Distributed Volcanic Network (DVN) mechanisms creating global seismic cascade destabilizing 100-500 volcanic systems across multiple tectonic settings. Modern seismological observations demonstrate clear correlations between major earthquakes (M8. 0+) and subsequent volcanic eruptions at distances exceeding 1, 000 km. Scaling this phenomenon to impact-generated seismic events (M11-12) suggests potential activation of distributed volcanic networks, creating order-of-magnitude amplification effects in atmospheric loading, ocean chemistry disruption, and climate forcing. The DVN framework provides coherent explanations for: (1) variable extinction severity despite similar impact energies, (2) extended duration of environmental stress, (3) survival of organisms in geographically restricted refugia, and (4) geochemical signatures suggesting multiple simultaneous volcanic sources. Application of this framework addresses previously problematic extinction events including Late Devonian pulses, Triassic-Jurassic boundary, and aspects of the Permian-Triassic crisis. Analysis of paleontological survivorship patterns yields constraints on atmospheric conditions and identifies engineering requirements for survival infrastructure capable of maintaining habitability during comparable future events.
