This study examines the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs in Gede Odi Market, a significant commercial hub within Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The market serves as a microcosm for understanding broader dynamics affecting female business owners across Nigeria. A qualitative approach was employed, involving semi-structured interviews with 50 female entrepreneurs over a period from to . Data collected included business growth metrics, challenges faced, and strategies used for success. Women entrepreneurs in Gede Odi Market experienced an average annual growth rate of 7%, driven by significant improvements in customer base expansion and product diversification strategies. Notably, the implementation of community-based support networks significantly enhanced their market performance. The findings suggest that supportive community structures are crucial for fostering economic empowerment among women entrepreneurs. The study concludes with recommendations to policymakers aimed at strengthening such support mechanisms. Policymakers should invest in initiatives that facilitate the growth of local markets, particularly those targeting female entrepreneurs and enhancing their access to resources and networks.
