The main purpose of the article is to analyze linguistic processes in the Middle Turkic era, as well as to evaluate the linguistic nature of the written monument "Central Asian Tafsir". In the course of studying this problem, historical-comparative and diachronic-synchronous methods, as well as typological comparisons, interpretative and narrative methods were widely used. In the Middle Turkic era, covering the XI-XV centuries, the historical and cultural processes of the formation of written literary languages, which began in the ancient Turkic period and continued into the Middle Ages, reached a new qualitative level. The main results of the work are the identification of a close relationship between cultural centers and literary traditions. Based on the opinions of leading scientists, it was proved that the linguistic tradition that originated in the written heritage of the Karakhanids was preserved in the Khorezm region and the Kipchak confederation and further developed in the Chagatai literary language. The results of the research can be used in comparative lexicology of the Turkic languages, the history of the Kazakh language and Turkology. In conclusion, the linguistic specificity of the "Central Asian Tafsir" is shown and the need for its comparative study with modern Kipchak languages, including Kazakh, is substantiated.
