Urban agriculture in Kampala's suburbs is emerging as a critical component of food security strategies and community cohesion initiatives. The research employed semi-structured interviews with local farmers, government officials, and community leaders in Kampala's suburbs. Data analysis involved thematic coding of interview transcripts and focus group discussions. A key finding is the significant role played by women in urban agriculture, constituting over 70% of participants in surveyed households, highlighting their vital contributions to food security and economic empowerment. This study underscores the importance of involving local communities and stakeholders in planning and implementation processes for effective and sustainable urban agricultural initiatives. Recommendations include prioritising gender-sensitive interventions and fostering collaboration between government agencies and community organizations to enhance urban agriculture efforts.
