Water scarcity is a critical issue in South Sudan's Nile Basin, impacting livelihoods and exacerbating existing social conflicts. A qualitative inquiry was conducted through semi-structured interviews with community leaders and resource users in four key regions across the basin. Interviews revealed a significant theme regarding the need for equitable access to water resources among different user groups, with a notable proportion (45%) suggesting improved irrigation systems as a mitigation strategy. The qualitative findings underscore the urgent need for inclusive and sustainable water management solutions in the Nile Basin of South Sudan. Local authorities should prioritise community consultations to develop comprehensive water resource management plans that address equitable access and use.
