This chapter fixes time as a structural condition within configuration. Irreversibility alone does not constitute time. Irreversibility is not retained without distinction. Distinction is fixed within configuration. Arrangement is fixed without order, succession, or flow. Arrangement is non-temporal. Time is not defined by arrangement. It is fixed as the retention of arrangement under asymmetry. Retention fixes distinction as distinction. Irreversibility is distinguishable only under this condition and does not collapse. Time does not consist in flow, order, succession, or measurement. It is fixed as the retention of distinguishable irreversibility.
