Tirzepatide is a dual glucagon-like peptide-1/glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide receptor agonist consisting one of the latest therapeutic options for diabetes and obesity. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is an increasingly frequent medical entity, possibly leading to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis. MASLD management is primarily based on weight loss and physical exercise. A number of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with tirzepatide have been conducted in people with histologically-proven MASH and showed beneficial effects. Herein, we briefly review available evidence for the effects of tirzepatide on MASLD.
