A BSTRACT Introduction: Blood is essential for life and has no artificial substitute. Transfusion remains the primary treatment in emergencies, making the rational use of donated blood vital. Regular audits help assess utilization trends. This study focuses on evaluating the utilization patterns of blood and blood products. Materials and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2022 to June 2023. Data were obtained from blood bank records and analyzed for clinical and demographic variables using descriptive statistics. Results: During the course of the trial, 21,801 transfusion requests were made, most commonly packed red blood cells, which were followed by platelets with 1924 units, fresh frozen plasma with 7751 units, and cryoprecipitate with 3125 units. The medicine division made the most use of its components; the most common indication was anemia. The total CT ratio was 2.31; only neurology had 5.28 and in plastic surgery it was 7.5, which is more. Medicine had a transfusion probability of 57.1% among large blood volume user whereas plastic surgery showed the lowest transfusion probability 13.3%. Conclusion: Blood transfusion services will be enhanced through the use of common quality indicators and continuous quality management system monitoring. A periodic assessment and audit of the use of blood components is essential to determining the pattern of blood use in any given institution.
