Karl Marx was an important 19th-century philosopher, sociologist, and economist who laid the foundations for modern socialist thought. He primarily criticized the capitalist social system and analyzed the exploitation of the working class. This research paper discusses Marx's ideas on capitalism, especially class struggle, surplus value, and the inherent contradictions of capitalism. In capitalism, the means of production are concentrated in the hands of a few owners and workers are forced to sell their labor power. This results in increasing inequality in society and widening the gap between the rich and the poor. According to Marx, there are some contradictions within this system that can ultimately lead to social change. This study analyzes Marx's theory in the light of contemporary society and highlights its relevance.
