Stoichiometry problems may be readily solved by using appropriate molar expressions for the chemical substances being considered and by making students aware that any two molar expressions for the reaction components divided by their respective coefficient in the balanced chemical equation are mathematically equivalent. Molar expressions for substances in the solid, liquid, solution, and gas phases are considered. The approach is also applied to other extensive properties related to a chemical equation.
