The article analyzes the book by Yu.A. Pelevin Alexander Mikhailov and his revolutionary era. The author notes both the undoubted advantages of the work and its inherent disadvantages. Thus, it is noted that the monograph is characterized by accuracy and attention to detail, careful attitude to particulars. It destroys existing stereotypes, mythologems and ideologems. However, along with this, the authors emphasized objectivist approach makes it impossible to create a true portrait of one of the leaders of Narodnaya Volya, as well as to present the diversity of ideological searches of the revolutionaries of the Seventies.
