In the article, the authors assess how the introduction of a restrictive regime against Russia by Western countries following the start of the special military operation in Ukraine has affected the interaction of the Russian Far East with Southeast Asian countries. In their study, the authors analyzed the state of bilateral relations and trade dynamics between Russia and Southeast Asian countries and also examined cooperation between the Russian Far East and Southeast Asian countries in tourism, logistics, education, and other areas. The authors conclude that the official position of Southeast Asian countries on the Ukrainian conflict does not directly correlate with their willingness to maintain economic relations with Russia, and that the territories of the Russian Far East play an important role in maintaining ties with Southeast Asian countries, primarily in transport and logistics.
