The article provides a definition of psychological readiness for professional activity, lists its components, and focuses on the communicative component of psychological readiness for professional activity among employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The article presents the results of a study conducted on employees of a correctional facility with varying levels of professional experience. Young professionals, in turn, are divided into two groups based on the degree of contact they have with convicts during their professional activities. The study used the KOS test to collect empirical data, and the level analysis method and the φ*-test of Fisher's angular transformation were employed to analyze the results. The article provides a meaningful interpretation of the findings, indicating that young professionals are not fully prepared for professional communication. It has been found that the content of activities has an impact on the formation of communication skills in young professionals, but has almost no effect on organizational skills. As professional experience increases, the communicative component of psychological readiness for professional activity naturally grows, which confirms the idea of the dynamic nature of psychological readiness for professional activity during its implementation.
