Hi everyone! With this issue, I am taking over as the editor of the SIGACT News Distributed Computing Column. I would like to thank Dan Alistarh for all his great work on this column, and also for being brave enough to leave it in my hands. I wanted to use this first issue to write a few words about my plans for this column. As before, this will be a great place to post interesting news, reviews, conference reports, tutorials, surveys, and any kind of expository material that is not a good fit with our traditional publication forums but is of broad interest to our community. But I would also like to put some emphasis on new kinds of contributions that we have not seen much of previously.
