Through interviews with leading educators across the world, the authors of this Special Issue facilitate a deep examination and better understanding of disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to education that address important and complex global issues such as populism, critical thinking, creativity, social justice, data, disability, global education, employment, and countercultures. All six papers are underpinned by three elements: dialogue; multiple perspectives where practical, theoretical, pedagogic, disciplinary, international, and interdisciplinary approaches are employed within the same interview; and a reflective focus. Blending traditional scholarship with an interactive, conversational approach, this Special Issue addresses current issues and challenges in teaching and learning, while providing ideas and inspiration for how a contemporary outlook and approach can be adopted in everyday academic life.
