This study investigated the extent of digital technology adoption in Federal University, Gashua Library, Yobe State, Nigeria. The main objectives of this study were to: examine the extent of digital technology adoption in the Federal University, Gashua Library, to determine the impact of digital technology on information access and use, and to identify the major challenges affecting its effective utilization. The study employed a questionnaire titled “Digital Technology Adoption Questionnaire (IDTIAUQ)”, as the instrument for data collection. The population of the study consisted of thirty (30) librarians in the Federal University, Gashua Library; hence, the entire population was used without sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive mean and standard deviation (SD), to interpret the responses. Findings revealed that the librarians have a positive perception toward the adoption of digital technology, indicating moderate integration of ICT tools in library operations. The use of digital platforms has enhanced access to current information, improved user satisfaction, and increased research efficiency. However, challenges such as poor internet connectivity, inadequate funding, and irregular power supply were identified as major barriers. This study concludes that digital technology plays a pivotal role in enhancing information access, retrieval, and use in the Federal University, Gashua Library. It has significantly improved user satisfaction, research productivity, and the efficiency of library operations. The study recommends adequate funding, stable internet services, and continuous ICT training for librarians to enhance full digital integration. It concludes that digital technology has the potential to transform library services if properly supported by infrastructure and management commitment.
