The article analyzes the continuous education of employees of the penitentiary system in the context of digitalization of science and education. It is emphasized that scientific interest in the methodological aspects of continuing education is complemented and expanded by the widespread introduction of digital technologies into various fields of work, which is changing the social life of citizens, socialization of the individual in the information society, and transforming professional activity itself. The factors influencing the improvement of aspects of continuing professional education are highlighted: the dynamics of professions, specialties, areas of educational training, qualifications; acceleration of information exchange, as a result of which people's life activities change, work activity, forms of interpersonal relations, existing knowledge and competencies are transformed; obsolescence of the material and technical base and the introduction of information technologies in education, science and production for solving professional tasks. Digital innovations that contribute to the implementation of continuing professional education programs for employees of the penitentiary system are described. The aspects of scientific and methodological support of continuing professional education are summarized. The role of digital professionalism, self-education and mentoring in the implementation of continuing education is outlined. The continuity of professional education contributes to the growth of professional and personal competencies, which contributes to the success and effectiveness of work and self-realization of an employee of the penitentiary system.
