AbstractThe library standards are crucial for maintaining consistent, high-quality services, effective resource management, and fair access to information across all libraries, especially in academic institutions. Using a quantitative scientometric analysis of published literature, this study aims to explore the significance of standards in academic libraries. A total of 893 records, covering the period from 1972 to 2025 and sourced from the Web of Science database, were analyzed using VOSviewer (version 1.6.16) and the Biblioshiny web application. The analysis shows a steady increase in scholarly output, with an annual growth rate of 6.56% and an average of 7.45 citations per document. Key findings highlight the most productive journals, influential authors, and leading institutions in the field. The United States remains the top contributor, although rising participation from countries such as Pakistan, India, South Africa, and Nigeria indicates a broader global involvement. This study reveals a foundational understanding of how academic library standards have developed and provides strategic insights for future research and policy development.
