Legal formalization of the mechanism for harmonizing the legislation of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in integration law is an important contribution to the effectiveness of such harmonization and a factor in the effectiveness of the integration process as a whole. The purpose of the study is to examine the technical and legal features and formal‑logical structure of the mechanism for harmonizing the legislation of the EAEU member states, and to formulate proposals for improving this mechanism. Research methods: formal‑legal, functional, systemic. The article analyzes, using the example of the financial market sector, the current aspects of the functioning of the mechanism for harmonizing the legislation of the EAEU member states: the technique of legal regulation of the harmonization mechanism; the logic of the component parts of this mechanism; the conceptual framework used. Particular attention is paid to the criteria for the sufficiency of harmonization, the role of international financial standards in the harmonization mechanism. The author argues that, in the current period, the examined mechanism appears to be insufficiently logical, legal, methodological, and terminologically supported. Based on the conducted analysis, ways to improve the harmonization mechanism have been proposed, including adjusting its legal, institutional, and methodological foundations. It is proposed to: develop Methodological recommendations for conducting a comparative legal analysis of the legislation of the EAEU member states and monitoring its harmonization in the financial market; extend the harmonization mechanism to macroprudential policy and policy in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing; intensify the involvement of the private sector in the harmonization and monitoring processes; clarify the set of criteria for the sufficiency of harmonization of legislation of the EAEU member states; introduce a two‑stage motivational approach to the implementation process. The conclusions drawn from the research can serve as a basis for improving the legislative process and the law enforcement activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
