ARCUS were commissioned by Strata Construction Limited to undertake a post- determination archaeological evaluation of land at Valley View Road, Heptonstall, West Yorkshire. The work was carried out as part of an archaeological condition of redevelopment of the site recommended by WYAAS (Planning Application reference 07/01310/FUL). Excavation of eight evaluation trenches provided residual traces of post medieval activity on the site, but no in-situ features or structures of the same period. Much of the disturbance to the site pertained to late twentieth-century usage, although residual sherds of pottery dating from A.D 1450-1600 were recovered from the topsoil.
