Upper respiratory tract disorders (URTDs) – including rhinitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and laryngitis – are among the most common acute and recurrent illnesses globally and contribute substantially to morbidity, absenteeism, and antibiotic misuse. Homoeopathy is widely used in URTDs, with polycrest remedies such as Belladonna, Hepar sulphuris calcareum , and Pulsatilla . However, Boericke’s Materia Medica identifies several lesser-used remedies with distinct, clinically valuable symptom profiles that remain underutilized in contemporary practice. This narrative review aims to explore and highlight rare homoeopathic remedies indicated for URTDs, drawing from Boericke’s Materia Medica with a focus on keynotes, modalities, and miasmatic interpretation according to Hahnemann’s chronic disease theory. The review synthesizes clinical indications of selected uncommon remedies with potential therapeutic relevance in diverse URTD presentations, particularly recurrent, resistant, or atypical cases. The keynote symptoms, modalities, relationships, and constitutional characteristics are analyzed to support individualized remedy prescribing. A miasmatic correlation – primarily within psora, sycosis, and syphilis – demonstrates how chronic dyscrasia may contribute to susceptibility, chronicity, and relapse of URTDs. The appraisal underscores that rare remedies may fill clinical gaps when polycrest medicines offer partial or temporary relief. Broader recognition and rational use of rare homoeopathic remedies may enhance individualized management of URTDs, reduce empirical repetition of common remedies, and minimize overuse of antibiotics in recurrent infections. Future research should include systematic case documentation, clinical trials, and repertory-based outcome analyses to validate the clinical utility and miasmatic application of these remedies. Integration of miasmatic profiling into treatment guidelines may support improved long-term outcomes and foster evidence-informed homoeopathic practice.
